Alex Toth Tribute (Darby O'Gill)

My homage to Alex Toth.

Darby O'Gill is the first comic book of Alex that I remember reading, sure the first of my collection of his Dells. When the official website Tothfans.com opened an homage section where authors could post their tributes to the master, I sketched this drawing in pencil. It was 2005, more or less, Alex was still alive, and... to be honest I never had the courage to submit it (which I regret a lot). 
So when Paul Fricke of Bluemoonstudios asked me to join the renewed homages feature, early this year, it looked natural to me to pull this Darby out of the drawer and, finally, I finished it.

To my biggest pleasure, the piece is shown in the Tribute Gallery section of Tothfans.com.

Sergio Bonelli tribute

Ringrazio Jose Carlos Francisco (Zeca per gli amici) di avermi chiesto un personale omaggio a Sergio Bonelli per il celebre blog portoghese intitolato a Tex Willer. La quantità di grandi scrittori e disegnatori che hanno preso parte all'iniziativa è tale che onestamente mi sono sentito piccolo piccolo nel fare questo disegno, ma allo stesso tempo il ricordo dell'editore a cui devo tutto mi ha dato la spinta!

Thanks to my portuguese friend Jose Carlos Francisco (aka Zeca) for asking me to make an homage to Sergio Bonelli for his Tex Willer Blog. The number of great writers and artists who participate to this initiative is so big that I felt very humble while making this drawing. But at the same time the memory of the man whom I owe my work gave me the energy!

Max Fridman Tribute

Ho sempre amato Max Fridman, il geniale personaggio creato da Vittorio Giardino. Spazio Corto Maltese ha recentemente pubblicato un volume a lui dedicato, con decine di illustrazioni inedite, matite, schizzi, interviste, aneddoti e altro ancora.

I have always been a big fan of Max Fridman, the great character created by Vittorio Giardino. Spazio Corto Maltese has just published a beautiful book on him, that shows dozens of illustrations, sketches, behind the scenes anedocts, unpublished notes, interviews and more.

In fondo c'è una piccola collezione di omaggi a Max Fridman, tra cui...

and, at the end, it includes a small collection of tributes made by fellow artists-fan of Giardino's work, among them...
